Support a Modern Mortuary Facility for Surrey – Have Your Say

A planning application has been submitted to establish a permanent mortuary and digital post-mortem (CT scanning) facility in Bagshot (Ref: SCCRef-2026-0049).

This proposal is about ensuring Surrey has the modern, compassionate, and efficient services needed to support families at some of the most difficult moments in their lives.

Why this matters

Across Surrey, thousands of families each year rely on the Coroner’s Service. However, current arrangements are under increasing pressure and do not provide access to modern digital post-mortem technology locally.

This development would:

  • Enable less invasive post-mortems, reducing distress for bereaved families

We, the undersigned, support the approval of planning application SCCRef-2026-0049 for the proposed permanent mortuary and digital post-mortem facility in Bagshot.

We believe this development is important because:

  • It introduces modern medical technology (CT scanning), reducing the need for traditional post-mortems
