We aim to provide information, advice and help to the community on immigration, nationality, passport, visas, benefits, housing etc. To write on behalf of clients to offices and agencies, translate and interpret, do advocacy for clients.
Nationality, visas and passports
This Centre is used predominantly by the Pakistani community living in Woking. A sizeable population from among these clients has problems of communicating in English, verbally and/or in writing. A typical area of service/assistance is reading and writing letters, replying to official communications, by letter or telephone. Sometimes the communication is confidential and discreet. Many documents from Pakistan need to be translated in English for various purposes, the centre provides translation services.
Many Clients hold Dual Nationality and this involves updated information on travel documents required for travel to Pakistan by 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Pakistanis living in the UK. For this purpose the office maintains up to date application forms and information prescribed by The Home Office and Government of Pakistan and updated frequently.
Holders of Dual Nationality are sometimes involved in litigation in Pakistan due to property, inheritance and other issues. They get basic information that is prompt and free of cost, saving them a huge cost.
This Office serves as a contact point for various cultural or educational events that the Association holds in Woking. This helps generate good inter race, inter community relations and promotes mutual understanding.
New arrivals to the UK need help at the initial stage for the purpose of employment, access to local services, English language courses. This office is the first port of call for their clients to get referred to other services and agencies.
The centre is manned by 1 ful- time and one part -time member of staff.
Monday to Friday 9.30 to 7pm. Closed for lunch 1-2pm
